PDP Interview with Elife Owner, Dr. Baruch

PDP Interview with Elife Owner, Dr. Baruch

Interview: Dr. Baruch from ELife Restaurant

Who is Dr. Baruch?

Dr. Baruch is a longtime resident of the DMV, and is currently the owner of not one but three vegan restaurants in the area: Elife Capitol Heights, Elife Takoma Park and Elife Anacostia. His Capitol Heights location opened in 1995 (almost 25 years ago!) in order to provide a healthy food option to local residents. Dr. Baruch recognized that the area was a food desert – and residents only had access to unhealthy, artery-clogging food options. Elife Capitol Heights delicious but healthy vegan soul food was a welcome addition to the neighborhood and continues to be the most popular of all of Dr. Baruch’s restaurant locations. Dr. Baruch identified a similar dearth of healthy dining options in Anacostia, which lead to the opening of his third and newest soul food restaurant in 2018.

What can you expect at Elife Restaurants?

Super dynamite vegan soul food. Imagine everything from fried “chicken,” the creamiest mac n cheese you have ever had, lasagna, yams, collard greens, drummies, and much more. Desserts are also always involve and include decadent brownies, cake, and cookies.

What is Dr. Baruch’s relationship to Plant Dining Partnerships?

In addition to the health benefits of following a vegan diet, Dr. Baruch also recognizes the impact of the meat industry on other living beings. While the source of his commitment to vegan dining remains the health aspect, Dr. Baruch shares the animal rights community’s concern for animal welfare.

Any final words?

Dr. Baruch is a pioneer in the vegan dining movement in the Washington D.C. area, and his endorsement of Plant Dining Partnerships is appreciated and notable. We look forward to continuing to work with him, and supporting his dynamite vegan dining fare. Visit one of his Elife venues soon and be sure to get a double order of the mac n cheese!
